RT @LeducRep: City residents are invited to provide input on the 2012 Budget - the 2nd Public Commentary Session at the Civic Center on ...
Dominic Mishio has been a resident in the Leduc – Beaumont consistency all his life. Prior to entering politics, Dominic worked for a local benefits consulting firm, beginning as an office administrator and quickly moving up to the position of business analyst. During this time in the private sector, Dominic was exposed to the many aspects of business including budget preparation, corporate rebranding, marketing and liaison with the board of directors.
In three short years, Dominic was instrumental in growing the business by close to 400% and he became licensed by the Alberta Insurance Council.
While working in the private sector, Dominic joined the PC Association and worked on a number of municipal boards. He was involved in founding the Environmental Stewardship Coalition –a group mandated to create consensus on Alberta environmental issues.
In 2007 Dominic ran and was elected to City of Leduc Council. He was Alberta's youngest elected representative. In 2010, Dominic was re-elected to serve his second term on Council. He worked hard to bring about the Leduc intermunicipal transit system, complete the Leduc Recreation Centre and advocate for long-term planning of municipal initiatives all with an eye on ensuring taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.
Dominic would like to bring the same dedication to getting things done to Leduc-Beaumont and the PC Party.

Dominic Mishio was first elected as an Alderman in 2007 becoming the youngest elected to office in the City of Leduc's history. From 2007 to 2010, he served as the Province of Alberta's youngest elected official. He has since been re-elected to a second term.
Further to Dominic’s regular Council duties he is serving on several committees including: the Wastewater and Water Commissions, the Capital Region Board Transit Committee, The Municipal Development Plan Committee, as well as Student Tours and Engagement where Dominic gets to host students at City Hall and explain the role of civic government. Dominic is also the Council liaison to Planning and Infrastructure.
Dominic’s curiosity in politics began at an early age. He traces his early interest back to dinner table discusions with his family: mother Evelyne, father Marvin and sister Andrea.
Dominic grew up in the City of Leduc and attended Ecole Corinthia Park School. He then went to Beaumont Composite High School in order to continue his education in French Immersion. Through out school Dominic enjoyed sports, playing hockey in Leduc and football for the Beaumont Bandits. After Graduating he achieved his level 2 ski instructor certification before being hired as a Business Analyst at a Benefits Consultant firm. He continues his education as a student at the University of Alberta studying Canadian History and Political Science.
In 2006, with the intention of understanding diverse political systems and keeping an open mind, Dominic traveled to Cuba to serve as a volunteer delegate at a United Nations conference on literacy.
With a great desire to inspire others to get involved, he put on the first Leduc-Beaumont-Devon Youth Leadership Forum. High school students from the region engaged in discussion with their local politicians from all levels of government.
He is one of the co-founders of the Alberta Environmental Stewardship Coalition (AESC) and has been working with this group to create environmental strategies for the province. While serving with the AESC, Dominic organized an open panel discussion on the future of the environment in Alberta. Members of the panel included: Edmonton Mayor Stephen Mandel, Ecological Economist and adjunct Professor at the University of Alberta Mark Anielski, and the former leader of the Reform Party Preston Manning.
As an Alderman, Dominic wishes to use proper political tools to influence policy. He views politics as an opportunity to inspire change. Dominic has taken a keen interested in all domains of politics from local to global issues. He enthusiastically encourages all citizens to get involved in some form, as even participation at the local level creates an opportunity to expand positive influence around the world.
